Plot

Segun returns home tired and hungry and in low spirits because the day has not been too profitable. Despite his wife’s cajoling he refuses to make use of the milk and sugar he bought, he insists he bought it for breakfast for Joan and her mother. As he leaves for work the next day he hands his wife N15,000 as part of the rent which totals N115,000. Moth to a Flame.

At home Joan tries to raise her mother’s hopes that all will be well, while her mother wonders how she would succeed in begging the landlord. Joan suggests going for help from an uncle, a suggestion her mother is totally averse to.

Meanwhile Mr. Segun go about his business and picks up a passenger, who charters his taxi. The passenger does not pay him. After waiting for a long while, he realizes that he would not be paid and decides to go buy himself something to eat. As he returns to his car, he is knocked down by an oncoming car. As there isn’t enough money to pay her father’s hospital bill, Joan again brings up the idea of seeking help from her uncle. They hit a brick wall there.

Her twin brother is studying to be a priest, but comes home as a result of the emergency. Joan comes up with a plan to make money to pay up the bills. She has decided without their mother’s knowledge to become a cab driving their father car. Kenny refuses at first but they have no choice.

On her first day she picks up a passenger whose car has broken down on the road on his way back from work. He enters the cab and is taken aback when a female voice asks him his destination. He forgets his wallet with a lot of money in it, without realizing it. Kenny finds it and it is returned. Ford is impressed and offers her a job to drive him for 20 days at N200,000.

On her first day on the job Joan is more convinced that Ford is arrogant and rude, she also realizes that he fears and respects his mother, and she teases him about it. On the third day Joan meets Ford’s mother, and she drives her home, and also makes a nice home cooked meal for her. Joan makes quite an impression on Mrs. Clinton. Despite that she wants business plans with Roseline’s father to continue. At the mention of her name Ford is offended.

As they return home, Joan gets a call from her mother, when Ford tries to stop her from answering she screams at him to shut up. She loses her father that night. The next day she is back at work. On the way she overhears the business conversation Ford is having and valuable advice on the issue. Later he offers her a job to oversee the project. She does cease the opportunity of a relaxed moment to mention his lack of courtesy for people.

Ford is not excited at the surprise visit from Roseline, who takes an instant dislike to Joan. Joan admits to Kenny that she experienced feelings of jealousy at the arrival of Roseline. Roseline does everything to be condescending to Joan. She insists that Ford gets her to drive them on Saturday, all her attempts to stamp her ownership on Ford is met with resistance. Ford calls her to thank her driving during the weekend and she blurts out the fact that she thinks she loves him. Ford is silent and Joan immediately cuts the call in embarrassment.

On her last day at work, as she drives him to work, Ford realizes that he has forgotten his phones at home. Joan offers to go back home and collect the phones after dropping him off. Roseline ceases the opportunity to run her off with her words, but instead mistakenly lets it slip that Ford has feelings for Joan. A very happy Joan hugs her for the information and drives off.

Mrs. Clinton tries to stop the budding relationship by calling Mrs. Segun and threatening her. Mrs. Segun finally finds out the nature of job Joan does. As a reaction to what happened, Joan refuses to pick Ford’s calls any longer. Mrs. Clinton tries to get Roseline and Ford back on track, instead Ford tells Roseline to leave his house and never come back.

Joan gets a new job. Ford seeks her out and comes clean with his feelings, while both mothers look on in approval.
